My name is Mrs. Lavallee and I am so excited to begin a new school year with you. I am originally from Haverhill, Massachusetts and reside there now. This is my seventh year teaching in Melrose, and I'm so lucky to be part of this learning community.
I attended the University of New Hampshire where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Family Studies and my Master’s degree in Elementary Education. I completed my year-long student teaching internship in a third grade classroom in Madbury, New Hampshire.
After graduating, I traveled to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and taught first grade for three years at Dubai American Academy, a private, international elementary school. The experience of traveling, seeing a new culture, and visiting new places was amazing! I worked with children and families from various backgrounds and countries and still keep in touch with some of them. I moved back to Massachusetts and taught in Haverhill, and this will now be my eighth year teaching fourth grade. It is such a fun year to see the students grow, change, and expand upon their knowledge.
Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. It's my passion! I enjoy reading, playing tennis, yoga, and spending time with my family, friends, my husband, Robert, and my two year old son, Bobby! This summer we spent a lot of time at my parent's lakehouse in Wakefield, New Hampshire. My husband and I got ahead on some home projects and got many things organized and finished. My son learned how to ride a tricycle and truly became a "fish" while swimming. Even though this summer was much different than others, I have to say we had a wonderful time together as a family.
I enjoy connecting with students and families, and know this year will be a new and fun learning experience for everyone. Although it presents many unique challenges, looking at the good parts that we can celebrate will help all of us navigate the year together.
I look forward to meeting you and working with you and your child this year!
